Founder Journal: Some Days You Build. Some Days You Rebuild.

By Nino Mihilli | Entrepreneur, Author, Founder of T47 Group, Creator of Xsatori, and Author of The Variable

One thing people don't talk about enough is how often entrepreneurship requires rebuilding.

From the outside, businesses look like a straight line.

Launch.

Grow.

Scale.

Repeat.

That hasn't been my experience.

Some days you're building.

Other days you're rebuilding something you thought was already finished.

A process.

A product.

A relationship.

An idea.

Sometimes even yourself.

I've learned that's normal.

The Best Plans Don't Survive Reality

I enjoy planning.

I like whiteboards.

Roadmaps.

Vision documents.

Long-term strategy.

But every business I've ever built eventually collided with reality.

Customers wanted something different.

Technology changed.

Markets shifted.

A better idea appeared halfway through the project.

That used to frustrate me.

Now I almost expect it.

Because reality is the best editor you'll ever have.

Xsatori Reminds Me Every Day

Lately, a lot of my time has been spent building Xsatori.

Some days we solve a problem in an hour.

Other days we spend an entire day fixing something that no user will ever notice.

Years ago, I would have viewed those days as setbacks.

Today, I see them differently.

Invisible work is still progress.

Strong foundations rarely get applause.

But they're the reason everything else can stand.

Writing a Novel Taught Me Patience

When I was writing The Variable, there were chapters I rewrote more times than I can count.

Not because they were terrible.

Because they could be better.

That experience changed the way I approach business.

Version one is rarely the final version.

The willingness to revise is often what separates good from great.

Whether you're writing software, building a company, or telling a story, improvement usually happens through iteration.

Faith Has Changed My View of Delays

I've also learned that not every delay is a problem.

Some are preparation.

There have been seasons where I wanted doors to open immediately.

Looking back, I'm grateful some of them didn't.

I wasn't ready.

The project wasn't ready.

The timing wasn't right.

The Bible says:

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." — Ecclesiastes 3:1

I've come to trust that more than my own timeline.

The Builder's Mindset

One habit I'm trying to develop is separating my identity from my progress.

Some days everything goes well.

Some days nothing seems to work.

Neither day defines me.

The work continues.

The mission continues.

Tomorrow is another opportunity to build.

Or rebuild.

Either way, I'm grateful to have the opportunity.

Final Thoughts

If you're building something today, don't become discouraged when you have to start over.

Rebuilding isn't failure.

Sometimes it's refinement.

Sometimes it's wisdom.

Sometimes it's the very thing that prepares your work for the future you couldn't yet see.

I've rebuilt businesses.

I've rewritten chapters.

I've changed strategies.

I've learned new technologies.

And if there's one lesson all of those experiences have taught me, it's this:

Builders aren't defined by how many times they get it right.

They're defined by their willingness to keep showing up.

Tomorrow, I'll do what I've done for years.

I'll open my notebook.

Say a prayer.

And start building again.
