Chasing Significance by Nino Mihilli

I'm Not Chasing Success Anymore. I'm Chasing Significance.
By Nino Mihilli | Entrepreneur, Author, Founder of T47 Group, Creator of Xsatori, and Author of The Variable
A few years ago, if you had asked me what I wanted, I probably would have answered with a business goal.
Grow the company.
Launch another venture.
Reach the next milestone.
Build something bigger.
Today, my answer is different.
I still love building businesses.
I still enjoy creating new ideas.
I still get excited about solving difficult problems.
But I've realized I'm no longer chasing success.
I'm chasing significance.
There's a difference.
Success Is About Achievement
Success is measurable.
Revenue.
Employees.
Customers.
Books sold.
Projects completed.
Goals achieved.
Those things are important.
They tell part of the story.
But they don't tell the whole story.
Because I've met people who were incredibly successful on paper but deeply unhappy in life.
And I've met people with very little who possessed incredible peace.
That taught me something.
Success and fulfillment are not the same thing.
Significance Is About Impact
When I think about the future, I don't ask myself,
"How many businesses can I build?"
I ask,
"How many lives can I positively influence?"
That question changes everything.
It changes how you lead.
How you hire.
How you write.
How you parent.
How you treat people.
How you define winning.
A business can generate revenue.
But it can also create opportunity.
A book can entertain readers.
But it can also challenge the way they think.
Technology can automate tasks.
But it can also improve lives.
That's the kind of work I want to spend my life creating.
Every Project Is Part of Something Bigger
When people look at what I'm working on, they sometimes see separate projects.
A staffing company.
A technology platform.
A holding company.
A novel.
Daily writing.
AI.
To me, they're all connected.
They're different expressions of the same purpose.
To build.
To solve problems.
To create value.
To leave something behind that matters.
That's why I enjoy moving between industries.
The mission doesn't change.
Only the tools do.
Faith Keeps Me Grounded
One of the greatest gifts my faith has given me is perspective.
The world constantly encourages us to chase more.
More money.
More recognition.
More followers.
More success.
Faith asks a different question.
What are you doing with what you've already been given?
Jesus taught that those who are faithful with little can be trusted with much.
That principle applies everywhere.
Business.
Family.
Leadership.
Life.
I don't want to simply accumulate accomplishments.
I want to be faithful with the opportunities I've been entrusted with.
Why I Wrote The Variable
When I sat down to write The Variable, I wasn't thinking about becoming an author.
I was thinking about telling a story worth reading.
A story that explored pressure.
Choice.
Resilience.
Human nature.
Those themes have fascinated me for years because they're not limited to fiction.
They're part of everyday life.
Every entrepreneur faces pressure.
Every parent makes difficult choices.
Every leader is tested.
Stories help us understand those experiences in a different way.
That's why writing the book became one of the most meaningful projects I've ever completed.
The Legacy I Hope to Leave
If someone asked what I hope people remember about me decades from now, it wouldn't be a revenue number.
Or a company valuation.
Or a title.
I'd rather they say:
"He built things that made people's lives better."
"He kept his faith."
"He loved his family."
"He treated people well."
"He never stopped learning."
If those things are true, I'll consider my life well spent.
Final Thoughts
The older I get, the more convinced I become that success is a milestone.
Significance is a mission.
One can be achieved.
The other is lived.
I'm grateful for the businesses I've built.
I'm grateful for the opportunities ahead.
But more than anything, I'm grateful for the chance to create things that matter.
And I hope I never lose that perspective.
