The Handshake Still Matters
The business world has changed a lot since I first started.
We have AI helping us write.
Video meetings replacing conference rooms.
Contracts signed with a click.
Messages delivered instantly.
Technology has made business faster than ever.
But one thing hasn't changed.
Trust.
And trust still begins with people.
Business Has Always Been Personal
Sometimes we talk about business as if it's just numbers.
Revenue.
Margins.
Growth.
KPIs.
Those things matter.
I pay attention to them every day.
But behind every spreadsheet is a person.
Behind every invoice is a relationship.
Behind every hire is someone trying to provide for a family.
Behind every customer is someone taking a chance on your company.
When you remember that, business becomes much more meaningful.
The Deals I Remember
Over the years I've signed contracts.
Negotiated agreements.
Closed opportunities I worked hard to earn.
But when I look back, I rarely remember the paperwork.
I remember the conversations.
The laughs.
The challenges we solved together.
The trust that was built one meeting at a time.
Business may begin with a transaction.
The best businesses grow because of relationships.
Technology Should Strengthen Relationships
I'm incredibly optimistic about artificial intelligence.
In fact, I'm spending a lot of time building AI because I believe it will change nearly every industry.
But here's something I hope never changes.
People still want to be heard.
They still want honesty.
They still want someone who answers the phone when there's a problem.
Technology should help us serve people better.
It should never become an excuse to care less.
That's the standard I try to hold myself to.
The Same Principle Applies to Leadership
Leadership isn't about having the biggest title.
It's about earning trust.
I've worked alongside people who inspired loyalty simply because they were dependable.
If they said they'd do something, they did it.
If they made a mistake, they admitted it.
If someone needed help, they showed up.
That's leadership.
Not because a book says so.
Because people naturally follow those they trust.
Faith Reminds Me Who Matters Most
One of the things I admire most about Jesus is that He never treated people like interruptions.
He stopped.
He listened.
He noticed people everyone else overlooked.
That's a powerful reminder in a world that's always rushing.
If I'm too busy to truly see the people around me, then I've probably become too busy.
Looking Ahead
I'm excited about the future.
AI.
Technology.
New businesses.
New ideas.
New opportunities.
But I hope that twenty years from now, the people I've worked with won't remember me because I embraced technology.
I hope they remember me because I treated them with respect.
Because I kept my word.
Because I genuinely cared.
Those things don't become outdated.
They become a legacy.
Final Thoughts
The world will keep changing.
We'll build faster.
Communicate differently.
Create tools we can't even imagine today.
But I believe one truth will remain.
People do business with people they trust.
Always have.
Always will.
Technology may change the handshake.
It will never replace what the handshake represents.
